The Beginning
IntentaVida's journey started with Lida and Johan. The couple were living in Colombia working as farmers. Throughout their experience they realized that the farmers hard work was not being recognized and the farmers importance to society was being forgotten.
In a world where our lives are so reliant on technology and futuristic products, we sometimes forget our roots. We forget to connect to nature and understand the importance that a farmer has to a functional society. By recognizing this gap, the couple knew they wanted to make a positive impact. But they had a difficult time creating a solution in Colombia. So they decided to take their two children and move to Canada to start a new chapter in their lives.
Fate
While living in Canada the couple met David. They explained to him their background and their dream of starting a company to help farmers. David was inspired by them and his dream was to leave a positive mark in this world. To accomplish something great so that his loved ones can be proud of him. He believed that by working with Lida and Johan, he can accomplish something incredible.
Now the team of three, decided they would need the help of one more person with experience doing business in Canada. So David had the idea to introduce the team to his friend Alex. The four met at a McDonald's and the couple explained to Alex their dream. To their surprise Alex had a similar dream. He wanted food to be produced and distributed in a sustainable way. So that everyone in the world can have food on their table and be confident that what they are eating was made with care.
Inception
The team talked for five hours and envisioned starting a food distribution company selling natural Colombian food products. They believed that by selling farmers products and creating a human connection with everyone involved in the supply chain. It would build more awareness around the importance of the farmer. The team decided to achieve their collective dream of empowering farmers worldwide by co-founding IntentaVida Foods Inc.
Our Vision
IntentaVida means "Try Life". It means trying to be better than who you were yesterday and living life to the fullest. IntentaVida strives to inspire people from around the globe to recognize the importance of farmers. By paving the way for fair trade and giving farmers the resources they need to grow.
IntentaVida is a food company that imports various natural food products from Colombia into Canada. We work directly with Colombian farmers to help them bring their food to your dinner table. We want to thank farmers for the dedication and love they put into growing the food we love. So that farmers can produce sustainable, transparent, and real food!
